A thoroughbread among farmers markets, set in the school playground on the eastern side of the heath, north of Kentish Town. A Saturday morning ritual beside the tennis courts and bowling green and the dog park an Insta institution. In one sense it is a parliament of small producers, in another, on a sunny morning it will dissolve by lunchtime into a picnic on the heath with sasuages in rolls and gozlemi pancakes. The spread of stalls is impressive – two fishmongers, one from Dorset, one from Norfolk, at least four vegetable growers including the biodynamic Brambletye whose lettuces are pretty legendary plus a number of star regulars like family owned Karaway for Baltic rye baking, Bradfields for milk and dairy from Essex, whose farm has been in the family for more than 100 years, all things chicken from four generations old Fosse Meadows and all things potato from Shetland blacks to Yukon from Mr Potato Man from Tenterden in Kent. There are always guest appearance to brighten up the mix including on the third week of the month for example pioneering English chacutier Peter Themans from Wenlock Edge Farm, for all things pork as well.
