The best place to open a restaurant is next door to another restaurant (or so they said) so being next door to E5 Bakery might bring some cutom at the weekend for this specialist in rural ciders. It is odd that cider has been so eclipsed by beer in modern times, or perhaps just that Bulmers has been too successful for the trade’s own good. It is a pleasure to find these artisan drinks. The only other cider-centric venue in London is the Southampton Arms at the bottom of Parliament Hill (not connected) although the same team pulled together by Felix Nash here also have the London Cider House in Borough Market. All of which is a scrumpy cheer. And as ever with cider there are great names – Cheddar on My Mind, Little Pomona, Pet Nat 2022. The aim is to set cider up as an alternative to wine. They are hot the marketing with tote bags, a club and online sales, worth supporting.
