IN the dell beneath the monolithic Royal Free Hospital, just by the back door laundry exit, Giacobazzi’s red and gold awning stands in defiance against the kind of food chains that usually cluster around hospitals. A chalk notice in the window advertises ham on the bone – Saturday. Giacobazzi is a diy trattoria – fresh pastas are made each day in house in the small kitchen at the back. Beyond taglietelle and tortelloni there is also also fillings of artichoke or gorgonzola and walnut. Specials might include Rustic Tuscan or duck with chestnut. A range of homemade sauces to match are also made in house. Plus there is a the complete array of antipasti, cheeses, salumeria and other imports from wine to sausages.
