Unlike mainstream farmers markets overseen by the farmers union (who insist most produce comes or is made within 100 miles of the capital), Primrose Hill on Saturday is more of a producers market, a social enterprise, a place to find unusual, different and new products along with more traditional fruit vegetables and meats. It is a something of a seedbank although held togather with some staunch old hands like the Portobello Olive Company who rival almosty anyone else for their selection of southern european preserves. As the name suggests olives are a speciality. Elsewhere there may likely be mushroom pate, kombucha, samosas, crumpets and Angelina’s wines from southern Italy. Plus the usual breads, cheese, chickens etc.
